Eric Lam
A native of Las Vegas, Eric Lam started his musical training on piano at the age of 9 and started the cello when he was 11. During his years of training in Las Vegas, he participated in the Las Vegas Youth Orchestras and Honor Orchestra for 6 years. In high school, he was a member of the Nevada All-State Orchestra for 4 years. Eric attended the Las Vegas Academy for Performing Arts, a high school dedicated to the training and development of young musicians. In May of 2011, he received his Bachelors in Music Performance from California State University Fullerton, under the auspices of Bongshin Ko. During his time as an undergraduate student, Eric was an active participant in the CSUF Symphony Orchestra and the CSUF Cello Choir in addition to being a dedicated chamber music participant. Other highlights of his undergraduate education include masterclasses with renown artists such as Bernard Greenhouse, Matt Heimovitz, Laszlo Varga and members of the St. Petersburg Quartet and Talich quartet, among others. He has been accepted into the Masters of Music program at CSU Fullerton as a full scholarship student and will begin his studies in August of 2011.
Throughout his years of being in Southern California, Eric has participated in numerous competitions and received first place in the Musical Arts Club competition in 2007 as well as first place in the ASTA area competition in 2008 and 2009. In addition to these competitions, Eric has participated in summer music festivals such as Summit Music Festival in New York and Las Vegas Music Festival. In July of 2011, Eric will be attending the Saarburg Music Festival in Germany as a scholarship participant. Some of Eric’s noted performances include the Laguna Beach Music Festival with Lynn Harrell and Daniel Rothmuller and the New York World Art Festival.
