Javier Huy Nguyen
Javier Huy Nguyen has completed coursework and is now a California State University, Fullerton graduate with a degree in Music: Liberal Arts. He has studied with respected private instructors Eduardo Delgado, Alison Edwards and My Le Nguyen as well as Frank Garcia (director of the Los Amigos String Orchestra). Javier is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, Music Honor Society. He has been awarded the Music Associate’s scholarship for four consecutive semesters. Javier received the AP Scholar Award, was Principal’s Award Nominee, and won the Performing Arts: Instrumental Award from Los Amigos High School, and was awarded Top Talent: International Member from the American College of Musicians (NGPT) where he graduated in 2006.
As a performer, Javier is equally experienced, having played with the California State University at Fullerton Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and the Nouveau Chamber Ballet, and Symphonic Winds. He has also collaborated with composers Tania Leon, David Maslanka, Michael Markowski, Michael Daugherty and Nicole Mitchell.
In 2006 and 2007 Javier performed as the pianist for the California State University at Fullerton Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and Nouveau Chamber Ballet under maestro Kimo Furumoto. Javier has worked under Frank Garcia, band director of the Los Amigos Music Program, as master student and conductor in 2007 and 2008. From 2008 to 2011 he became the pianist, organist and percussionist in the Symphonic Winds under the leadership of Dr. Marc Dickey.
Javier has studied extensively in the areas of Piano Pedagogy and Music Education while in Fullerton including vocal teaching, group piano teaching as well as brass, woodwinds, percussion and string methods.
He participated in the National Guild of Auditions and at the age of eighteen received the National Guild Diploma. Javier is now a member of the Music Teacher’s Association of California which allows his students to participate in Certificate of Merit. Currently Javier is teaching violin and piano students and volunteers his time in the day working with high school orchestras.
